A  Magazine cover aimed at young adults

This is my finished Magazine Cover for students.I chose to use one of my friends who is my age,so instantly the reader will assume the magazine is aimed at a younger audience.

Firstly, using photoshop, I cropped the photo and used the Magic wand tool to select the pieces of the photo I wanted.Then I smoothed out some rough edges (a result of using the magic wand tool) of the photograph by using the smudge tool. I decided that the photograph was too bright and colourful, a photograph of one colour would give a cool, simple edge to the magazine. I did this by adjusting the Hue and Brightness and matching the background to the new colour of the photograph.

After placing the photograph in the correct place, I added text. I wanted to achive a Fashion Magazine layout, so i looked for this on the internet.

I used a official school magazine( in the link list ) this as a template, to give me a guide when adding a title and text.

Taking on board Mr Gould’s comments, I changed the colour of the cover, to highlight that this is an Autumn issue.I also moved around the texts so the cover did not look as crowded as it previously did.Finally I changed the text from an “outer glow” to a drop shadow so that the text was easier to read against a warmer background.This is my final piece.
