Using this video of the evaluation of my contents, I changed some elements such as the size of the text. Here is the completed Contents page.

Here is the video which documents the devolpment of the contents page.

Here are the videos I have used to document the editing of the smaller photographs I will arrange in a sort of scatter effect  on the second page of the Double page spread.

Here is my first photograph I’m using for my double page spread, this will be the main photograph which takes up a whole page which will then have more text layered on top of it. This text will be in the same house style as the second page of my double page spread. I think that I will incorporate the title onto this photograph.

For the editing of my photographs for the contents page of the double page spread, I decided that instead of using screen caps to show the development of the editing, I would use a video. This way I could talk you through the stages of editing and explain why I did it and how the editing would improve the contents page as a whole.

Here is my first photograph I have chosen to use on my contents page.I used this because I like the fact the artist is only featured in shot, so all the attention is on him alone. This will attract an audience because fans of the artist will flick to the contents page to get an idea of what the feature is about before they purchase this magazine.

For my contents page and double page spread, I decided to go to a local music concert and take some photographs of the bands performing. I thought that the stage lighting would make the shots look effective and better than arranged photographs taken in daylight or against a white backdrop. Here are a selection of shots which I felt worked best in a contents and double page magazine layout.

I thought about doing the selling line earlier on in the making of my magazine cover, but I found it difficult to find a place on the cover for it. Eventually I tried putting the sentence I had come up with in the centre of the “X” in the title. I had to use white for the text, because it then linked to my colour scheme. I thought this would make my magazine look more unique by having across the title, rather than underneath like many fashion magazine, e.eg. Glamour magazine.

Finally, for finishing touches, I added a bar code, date of issue and website address, to make the magazine look more professional.

I used an example of Q magazine as a guideline to the layout of my magazine cover. The issue had rectangular shapes on to make the text on top of it stand out more. So I incorporated this by using the same technique but rotating each rectangle and piece of text to give a random effect. I made sure to only use red and white colours, to keep the cover linked to a theme and easier to read for the customer.

Thought I felt on the right side the cover looked a little empty, so I added another rectangle and text saying “20 greatest…” I think this would help the sale of the magazine because; most customers would want to know that these “great moments” are.

When doing the text I tried to use language techniques such as alliteration, for example “Bring on Biffy…”.I hoped this would make some sayings used on the cover memorable to the customer. By looking at some examples of music magazine covers, I found that many used statements such as “PLUS!” to draw the reader in.

After figuring the look of the title I started on the sub -heading, this being the name of the person featured on the cover photograph. The models name is Jack Rafferty and this sounds very average. So I changed it to Jacque Chevalier to give my cover and exotic edge.

The text I used for the sub-heading and for the rest of the magazine is Arial rounded; I tried to keep the look of the magazine simple and thought this rounded text would contrast well with the sharp look of Arial Black.

When I typed the sub-heading out, I found it was two long and went off the page, so I put it in two lines. I then realised that the “Q” and “L” would look better are more individual if I joined them together.
